Claude Kelly - "Let You Know"

V V

This track is from up and coming artist Claude Kelly, and produced by Darkchild. When I first heard the first 10 seconds of it, I liked it. Then time moved forward and I disliked the track. Why? Is the artist? Hell no. He actually does pretty good. Lyrical content is also good.

...

Its the production that turned me off. Who's idea was it to leave the phantom center basically blank (excluding vocals)? Then all of a sudden the muddy non-fitting snares come in on the left and they just sound bad. It sounds like Tinker Bell coming in and farting on your left monitor, or headphones, whuteva...

...

It gets worst for me... then the hi hats are doing their own thing on the right. Man... it feels like these things were just slapped on top of a MP3. The mix is a notch below decent. Then the vocals are panned hard left and hard right it seems, which is ok/good at times, but not when you got a snare and hi hat line battling each other.

Now...

I'm ALL for being creative and everything, but this doesn't cut it. The snare feels sonically out of place, like the snare choice just ruined the idea, and the hi hats on the right make it worst. Its like almost listening to two tracks in headphones, one on the left, one on the right.

...

Claude, keep it up, keep delivering... just next time don't settle for this mediocrity. This is hard to believe that Darkchild did this, I'm not convinced.

So...

Yes kiddies, a bad beat can ruin a complete song, and vice versa, but still most people can move their bodies to rynthm.

good review venture.. but i kind of like this song... but i think this is a demo/reference track maybe... I dont think Claude Kelly is intending to be a solo artist yet...
